Bernie, Has been playing fiddle, guitar, and bass for more than six decades, Has been playing jazz-flavored Western swing since the early 1940's, Bernie was born in the Panhandle section of Texas. at the age of 9 he took up guitar. 

Bernie, at the age of 14 played for the legendary fiddler Eck Robinson, Robinson who recorded the classic tune "Sally Goodin" in New York City in 1922. He took alot of ribbing for recording breakdown country fiddling in New York City.

Bernie joined the Navy in June 1945. After his discharge in 1948, Bernie returned to Texas and played with various bands such as Jimmy Young and Junior "Hound Dog" Keith. "Sometimes we played six hours a night, six days a week" said Bernie.

In the mid 1950's Bernie and his twin brother Boyd formed a band in southern California,  They played all over the Southwest. Bernie also played with the great Spade Cooleys' band the "Western Caravans" Cooley the brilliant but ill-fated fiddler who coined the term "Western Swing".

Bernie is a real treasure to the band. He is a member of the Sacramento Western Swing Society Hall of Fame, He has also been honored as a Pioneer in the Seattle Western Swing Hall of Fame.
